Like most forced to produce under pressure, they grew close and began to admire and respect one another. However, their romance never quite had the opportunity to blossom and once the production was over, they went their respective ways and moved on with their lives. After 2 years of post production, when the film is celebrating its premiere, the two of them meet again. With spirits flying high and the cast and crew present to critique and admire the work they have done, Sydney and Darrel after a night of drinks hook up. In the last two years they've had their professional triumphs and failures, they've had their flings and various romances, but they've always kept each other in the back of their minds as that one that got away, the magical other. But...things are different now.

春苗
故事发生在文革前夕的1965年。妇女队长春苗（李秀明 饰）看不惯医疗卫生大权把持在有资产阶级思想意识的人手中，她主动请缨到公社卫生院学习，以期学成回村为贫下中农服务。她不顾院长杜文杰（白穆 饰）和医生钱济仁（冯奇 饰）的刁难排挤，在方明（达式常 饰）的帮助下，她刻苦钻研专业知识，但杜与钱的所做所为还是让她愤然离开了医院。春苗回村后，在党支部的支持下，她在村里的卫生室做了一名赤脚医生。1966年，文革开始后，杜文杰出于不可告人的目的，在公社办起赤脚医生培训班，春苗和其它村的赤脚医生揭穿了杜文杰的阴谋，杜脑羞成怒，暗中下毒谋害水昌伯（高宝成 饰），并嫁祸春苗，春苗识破了杜的诡计......
巍巍昆仑
1947年春，蒋匪对我山东、陕北根据地发动重点进攻，毛泽东（张克瑶 饰）运筹帷幄，作出战略撤出延安的决定，用中央机关“昆仑纵队”牵制胡宗南（王振江 饰）主力。彭德怀（雷飞 饰）打响蟠龙战役，生擒敌旅长，缴获颇丰。毛泽东审时度势，令山东陈、粟部打响莱芜战役、孟良崮战役，歼敌数万，重创了蒋军主力。国统区“反饥饿、反内战”呼声日渐高涨，蒋介石下令镇压，并令胡宗南务必歼灭“昆仑纵队”，胡的努力一次次落空。毛泽东主持召开的小河口会议为我军战略反攻奠定了理论基础，彭德怀在沙家店歼灭敌三十六师，刘邓大军挺进大别山，其他各野战军也都转入战略反攻。雪后的五台山上，毛泽东感慨地说：最多两年，我们就可饮马长江，直捣南京......
死在那年夏天
